The one thing almost everyone looks forward to right after waking up is going back to bed. The reason that most of us feel that way is because we're waking up still tired from the day before. What gives? Believe it or not there are some pretty easy explanations as to why you've had a bad night's sleep and didn't wake up refreshed.

    Your Partner

Sure they're nice to have around to cuddle and do other things with but to be truthful our sleep mate is most likely the reason for our lack of quality sleep. Maybe your partners snores. Maybe your partner tosses and turns. Both of those are key factors in keeping you from getting the restful sleep you need. Have you thought about separate beds?

    Your Brain

Even though our bodies are tired our minds are still operating at a fast and furious pace. Perhaps you're concerned about an event at work, maybe you've had a disagreement with a friend, maybe that comment about your post on Facebook has you furious. Despite the fact that you're trying to sleep your brain wants to focus on these items and that makes falling asleep and getting a restful sleep more difficult. Have you tried not looking at Facebook before bedtime

    Aches & Pains

It's hard for the body to relax when you're in pain. It doesn't have to be an excruciating pain just a minor ache or pain will do the trick. Maybe your knee is sore from a lot of walking. Your back is sore from doing yard work. Maybe your shoulders are tense from working at a computer all day. These aches and pains make it hard for you to fall asleep and stay asleep.  Have you considered doing yoga to stretch out your body, muscles, and joints?

    Your Mattress

Do you know how old your mattress is? Most of us don't. That's a real problem. A mattress is something that you should always spend the money on. A cheap mattress will cost you more in the long run than a quality sleep system will. Make sure your rotate your mattress from time to time and flip it too. It helps your mattress last longer and give you a better night's sleep. Have you considered investing in a new mattress?
