Liquid Natural Gas seems to be the future of Southwest Louisiana. Parallax Energy has announced plans for another LNG export facility on the Calcasieu River.

The new 350 acre site is located on the Calcasieu Ship Channel west of the Industrial Canal. The 2 billion dollar facility is expected to create 1,000 construction jobs over a three year period and 100 direct jobs with an average annual salary of $75,000. The project will also create 385 indirect jobs. According to the Lake Charles American Press the facility will be called Live Oak LNG. A company spokesman said the projects permitting process will begin within this quarter.The company plans to ship up to 5.2 million metric tons of LNG. Construction is expected to be completed by the end of 2019.
