The Lake Charles Police Department held a press conference August 20, 2012 to announce details of the city's seventh homicide of the year.  Dorothy Melinda Horseman was pronounced dead this morning after what appeared to be a domestic dispute.  An arrest has already been made in the case.

Horseman 47, of Lake Charles La., was found near death at her home on Legion St., victim of a stab wound after a 911 call was made at 4 a.m. this morning.  She was pronounced dead upon arrival at the hospital, where her 20-year-old son is currently being treated from injuries sustained in the same attack.  Horeman's second child was taken into police custody unharmed, after the incident.

Manzee Watson, 35 was arrested around 11 a.m. in connection with the murder, and is currently in jail on a $275,000 bond.  It is thought that the victim and alleged assailant lived together, and that this is a domestic violence case.  Watson was previously charged with domestic violence 10 years ago in Lafayette, La.

Lake Charles District Attorney John F. DeRosier, said, "This case exemplifies why our office is so tough on domestic violence."
