With over 50 victims hospitalized after the mass shooting in Orlando, Florida early Sunday morning hospitals are in need of blood.

KPLC reports that LifeSouth has already sent blood to Orlando, but more is needed. Right now area hospitals are at "emergency levels, which is declared when the reserve blood supply drops to less than a two-day level."

Life Share Blood Center in Lake Charles has a donation center located at 214 Dr. Michael DeBakey Drive as well as a mobile unit that will be taking donations through out Southwest Louisiana. The next mobile blood drive will be in the City of Sulphur at 101 North Huntington from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m.

It's always great when a person can donate blood locally, but it's even more important when the blood supply is depleted due to such a tragic event. Whether the blood you donate helps someone in Orlando or someone in Southwest Louisiana, you are saving a life and that's the most amazing gift you can give.

For more blood drive dates or to reach out to Life Share Blood Center head to their website.
