With the Thanksgiving holiday upon us people all over Southwest Louisiana are preparing for a big Thanksgiving dinner with friends and family.  Then of course with Black Friday shopping the next day, tons of people will be out shopping till they drop getting those deals.

Well shopper and citizen safety is a priority of the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff's office (CPSO) and that is why they have now set up their Annual Robbery Prevention Mobilization (RPM) at the Prien Lake Mall.

The CPSO has set up their for the past 12 years in an effort to deter crime and assist shoppers in the parking lot at the Prien Lake Mall during the holiday season.

Deputies will be conducting checks with store clerks at businesses in the Southgate Shopping Center on Ryan Street, the Power Center on Highway 14, and the Target Shopping Center on Prien Lake Road in Lake Charles to assist in any needs and deter any shoplifting that may occur.

"The CPSO Robbery Prevention Mobilization has always been instrumental in, not only assisting shoppers with their problems and concerns, but keeping crime to a minimum at a time of year when it is usually on the rise,” says Sheriff Tony Mancuso.  “We are very pleased to be able to offer this service to the public.”

The Sheriff's office will be at the mall from November 27 through December 26, seven days a week from noon until one hour past mall closing.
