Calcasieu Sheriff’s Office Conducting DWI Checkpoint This Friday
The Christmas holiday is fast approaching and folks all over Southwest Louisiana will be celebrating. A lot of you will head out for Christmas parties or to visit friends and family over the next week.
If you plan to drink during your holiday festivities we encourage you to designate a driver so you and your loved ones will be safe on the roads and for other people traveling to be safe as well.
The Calcasieu Parish Sheriff's Office will be conducting a combination DWI and Seat Belt checkpoint this Friday night, December 22nd, 2017. The location is unknown but will be somewhere here in Calcasieu Parish.
Kayla Vincent with the CPSO said,
Deputies will be looking for individuals driving under the influence of alcohol and/or narcotics, which has been proven to be very effective in discouraging citizens from driving while impaired and people are more likely to designate a driver when they know sobriety checkpoints are being conducted.
The checkpoint will also target people who are not wearing their seatbelt.
So make sure to not drink and drive and have a happy holiday season!
