Calcasieu Sheriff’s Office To Hold Community/Law Enforcement Partnership Academy

Have you ever wanted to know what it takes to be a police officer, or even go through the training that officers do? Well, here is your chance. The Calcasieu Parish Sheriff's Office (CPSO) will be holding a Community/Law Enforcement Partnership Academy, which will start on November 15th, 2016.

Kim Myers with the CPSO stated :

The Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office will be hosting a 6 week Community/Law Enforcement Partnership Academy for any member of the community that is 18 or older that are interested in learning about the role of law enforcement in our community.

 

Academy participants will receive lectures and hands-on training from CPSO deputies, the Lake Charles Police Department, Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), and the Calcasieu Parish District Attorney’s Office on topics such as criminal investigations, domestic violence, civil rights, gang violence, use of force, as well as, several other topics in law enforcement (there will be no written exams or tests).

I went through the three month training academy and learned a lot. It helped me greatly during my 10 year law enforcement career. I highly suggest if you have ever been interested in police work or want to get more knowledge on what a police officer goes through on a daily basis, then you should attend this academy.

Myers with the CPSO also told us:

Applications for the Community/Law Enforcement Partnership Academy can be picked up at any CPSO Law Enforcement Center throughout the parish.  Applicants must be able to pass a background check to participate.  Seating is limited and applications must be turned in no later than Friday, November 11.

The Academy will start on Tuesday, November 15th from 6:00pm to 9:00pm, and will run for six weeks straight.
