The Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office along with other local and state law enforcement agencies will be participating in the national crackdown on drunk driving with grant funding from the Louisiana Highway Safety Commission.

The ‘Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over' is a 20 day campaign which started on Friday, August 21, 2015 and will end on Labor day on Monday, September 7th.

Kim Myers with the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff's Office says:

This is a partnership with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) to curb impaired driving and save lives.

The Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office will have increased checkpoints and increased officers on the road, aimed to reduce the toll of drunk driving.

“Research has shown that high-visibility enforcement like ‘Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over’ campaign reduces drunk driving fatalities by as much as 20 percent.  By joining this nationwide effort, we will make Calcasieu Parish roadways safer for everyone,” said Calcasieu Sheriff Tony Mancuso.
