On Sunday’s Emmy Awards, Carrie Underwood will help commemorate the 50th anniversary of two TV milestones from the ‘60s that rocked the nation. Carrie will perform a musical tribute in honor of television’s role in 1963's assassination coverage of President John F. Kennedy and The Beatles’ first performance on The Ed Sullivan Show in February 1964. Six-time Emmy nominee Don Cheadle will present the tribute. 1963 was the first year that more people got their news from TV than from newspapers. It was also the year network newscasts expanded from 15 minutes to a half hour. The Emmys air live Sunday at 7 p.m. on CBS.
