There are two things that when I see I will notify law enforcement because they just infuriate me. One of them is someone throwing trash out of their vehicle. The other is someone driving with a small child not strapped in. If you are transporting small kids ... it is your responsibility to make sure they are safe. The Louisiana State Police are offering free help with that.

Everybody knows that a child standing on the seat (while a vehicle is moving) is just a tragedy waiting to happen. However sometimes people think they have their child strapped in safely and that is not the case. That's why the Louisiana State Police offer free child safety seat inspections.

On Saturday, June 28, from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., the Louisiana Passenger Safety Task Force will hold a free child safety seat event in the parking lot of the Walmart Supercenter located at 3415 Gerstner Memorial Boulevard (LA Highway 14 near I-210) in Lake Charles. Nationally certified child passenger safety technicians will be on hand to assist with the proper installation of child safety seats.

While supplies last, free booster seats will be given to caregivers for children meeting the following criteria:

  • Child must weigh between 40 and 100 pounds
  • Child must be less than 4 feet 9 inches tall
  • Child must be present
  • Limit one seat per child
Don't miss this chance to insure that your child is safe.
