First, a history lesson. Most people think that this wonderful tequila-filled day is celebrating Mexico's independence. Those people would be incorrect. The "5th of May", is actually celebrating the victory of the Mexican Army against the French. Napoleon III tried to take his French forces into Mexico, thinking it would be a sure thing. Nope, the unlikely victors fought the French back and won the victory. That is why Mexico celebrates Cinco de Mayo. Side note, it's also not about some ship that sank with a load of Helman's Mayo off the coast in the Atlantic Ocean. That would be tragic, but not true.
