So every where you look and every time you turn on the radio or an awards show, you see Sam Hunt.  Sam Hunt has had a huge year in country music.  He has been nominated for awards in the CMA's and he just got a Grammy nomination for best country album.

Today is Sam Hunts birthday and I want to say Happy Birthday and feel like I might need to buy him a present today.  A restraining order so he will be protected from my morning show partner Emily! Just Kidding M!

Or am I?

Sam Hunt didn't start out as a country singer.  He actually was a football player.  He was a quarterback for two years at Middle Tennessee State University and two years at the University of Alabama Birmingham.  In 2007, he was invited to the training camp of the Kansas City Chiefs.

But Sam's passion was writing and performing country music.  Some of the songs Sam Hunt wrote or co-wrote are Kenny Chesney's hit "Come Over", Keith Urban's "Cop Car" and Billy Currington's "We Are Tonight".

Sam Hunt is signed with MCA Nashville and has now branched out on his own and has become one of the most popular country music artists out there now.

Sam has released only 5 songs in his young career and three of them have gone to number one!  His first single in 2013 "Raised on It" only reached to #37.  But then, explosion!  His next three releases "Leave the Night On", "Take Your Time", and "House Party" all reached number one status!

His latest single "Break Up In A Small Town" is currently sitting at number two on the charts.  Here is the video for that song which has received over 10 million hits already!

Happy Birthday Sam Hunt from Southwest Louisiana and especially from my morning show partner Emily!
