Flood conditions are getting worse for Jeff Davis and Acadia parish residents along the Mermentau River.  In Lake Arthur, the levees were topped over the weekend, making many road impassable.  Because of that, a curfew for residents is still in place.

Officials want people off the streets between 10 p.m. and 6 a.m. until the flood waters recede.  That means no school for students at Lake Arthur High and Lake Arthur Elementary -- even though the rest of Jeff Davis Parish has returned to school.  Meanwhile, in Acadia Parish, Estherwood, Morse, Midland and Mermentau schools are also closed, though the rest of the parish will return to class.

It doesn't look so good for the rest of the week, either -- with an 80 percent chance of rain for Monday and at least a 40 percent chance of rain for most of the rest of the week.  Please remember that if you come across a road that is underwater, that water could be deeper than it looks, so use caution.
