Dan + Shay have their fans to thank for their new album title, Obsessed, which the duo announced will be released this June via Warner Music Nashville.

“The idea for the album title, Obsessed, came directly from our fans,” Dan Smyers says in a press release. As bandmate Shay Mooney explains, he and Smyers noticed their fans constantly using the hashtag #obsessed on social media.

"Our fans know we live on social media both when we’re in and out of the studio, and we started noticing that hashtag ‘#obsessed’ being tagged in all our fans’ posts when we first revealed our single, ‘From The Ground Up,'" Mooney explains. "So when it came time to pick a title for this album, it seemed pretty appropriate that we’re even more obsessed with making music for our fans than they are to hear it."

Dan + Shay released their first single off Obsessed, "From the Ground Up," in February. The duo wrote the heartfelt song that details a lifelong romance with Chris DeStefano. The song was inspired in part by the death of both Dan and Shay’s grandparents. The two singer-songwriters looked back on the long love that both their grandparents had for each other. Smyers co-produced the song with Scott Hendricks.

Dan + Shay are set to perform at the American Country Countdown Awards in May. The duo are currently on the road and will join Darius Rucker on his Good for a Good Time Tour this summer. The tour kicks off on June 3 — the same day that Obsessed will hit shelves — in Tampa, Fla.
