DeQuincy Targeted On Spoof-News Website

DeQuincy, Louisiana is the topic of a fake news story claiming the city's mayor fired one of the firefighters for praying at the scene of an uncontained fire.

The false story comes from "newsexaminer.net", which is a website known for posting spoof-news. Mayor Lawrence Henagan says the story could not be further from the truth, and that he would "pray with my fire chief before, during or after a fire - or anytime he wants to".

Mayor Henagan told KPLC that phone calls about the article have come from everywhere, even all the way from South Carolina. The Mayor also added that, although he just laughs about it and moves on with life, it is also important for people to double-check sources.
