The icon Dolly Parton is hitting a milestone today as she celebrates her 70th birthday today.  I know I was shocked to.  She don't look 70 that's for sure.

Dolly was born Dolly Rebecca Parton on this day in 1946 in Sevier County, Tennessee. Dolly was the fourth of twelve children so she came from a huge family.

Dolly Parton started her musical career in 1955 at the age of 9 years old. At only thirteen years of age, Dolly came to Lake Charles and recorded her first song "Puppy Love" at Goldband Records on Church Street.

Here is the song "Puppy Love"

Of course Goldband records was founded in 1945 here in Lake Charles by Eddie Schuler. Goldband records was best known for its Cajun, Swamp pop and R&B recordings in the 1950s and 1960s.

Amoung her musical talent, Dolly is also a actress, author, businesswoman, and humanitarian.  As far as her movies, she is probably best know for her roles in 9 to 5, Steel Magnolias and The Best Little Whorehouse In Texas".

She also has great business sense as she is the proud owner of the amusement park "Dollywood" in Tennessee.

Dolly Parton music spans so many decades and over that time she has had 106 singles and 45 music videos.  She has had over 20 number one records and has teamed up with some of country music greats for some icon songs.

Dolly teamed up with artists like Brad Paisley, Ricky Van Shelton and Kenny Rogers for number one hits.  One of the biggest songs she released was with Kenny Rogers called "Islands In The Stream".  Let's go back in time and watch it again!

Happy Birthday Dolly!  Thanks for all the great movies, music and memories!
