Drug Raid at University of Alabama… Roll Tide Takes On New Meaning

Alabama is quickly becoming the biggest rivalry for LSU. They have our old coach, they have our national championship and now they have our drug problem.

We have read a lot the last couple of years about the drug problems at LSU. Several prominent LSU players were involved and it had cost the football program some of our rising stars. Word came out yesterday that the University of Alabama also faces this problem. There is no word on what students were involved and if any of them were student athletes. WWL cites a story in The Tuscaloosa News reportingmost of the arrests were for possession and/or distribution of marijuana. However, some of the arrestees were allegedly in possession of LSD, cocaine, ecstasy, mushrooms, and prescription pills. Most of the 61 UA students arrested lived on or near the campus, according to the report. According to the yesterday's press release from the school...

• "Earlier this morning, the local multi-agency drug enforcement task force concluded investigations that resulted in search and arrest warrants being served on and off the UA campus. UAPD, which is a participating agency with the task force, assisted with the investigations and arrests.

• The students who were arrested will be referred to Judicial Affairs. Once judicial reviews are completed, students will receive sanctions up to and including expulsion.

• These students represent a small group of UA students. UA will review our current policies and practices to ensure that we are doing all we can to educate students to make the best decisions they can and that we are providing an environment that is conducive to learning.
