So, What Do You Think Of The Rock’s Singin? IT DOESN’T MATTER, WHAT YOU THINK!
Who would have thought 10 years ago WWE’s The Rock would now be a famous movie star.
Now the actor will transform into a more serious role for his next project, which is said to be a biopic on country musician Charley Pride.
Dwayne Johnson, for anyone who might not know, was born in Hayward, Calif., on May 2, 1972. He'll be 39 on Monday. And into those years he has packed more accomplishments than even Jack Benny did in all the 30 years he claimed to be 39. And he's got a couple of bona fide Canadian connections to boot.
Dwayne Johnson certainly looks the part, and apparently has the singing ability to pull off his own “stunts” in this film. I’d love to see the actor go down this road, as long as he doesn’t stray too far away from those action roles we’ve grown to love seeing him as.
Pride recently spoke with Telegraph Journal regarding the film that’s been in production for some time and once had Terrance Howard set to play the role of Pride.
But then the ball got fumbled. New management took over the studio that was ready to begin site work on it, and a decision was made to put all their resources behind thrillers – fast actioners. They felt that was where the big box office money was then… Now it’s back on track again but with action and comedy star Dwayne Johnson portraying Charlie Pride in the title role.
From what we’ve seen on screen, Howard is leaps and bounds ahead of Johnson in terms of acting skill. But I will give Johnson the benefit of the doubt, seeing as he hasn’t done a role that would require him to truly shine. It seems as though Pride had a bit of a tough time readjusting to the new casting, but eventually accepted the fact.
But Dwayne is such a force on screen. It startled Charlie a little at first, but Dwayne flew down to Dallas and spent a day with Charlie just sitting, talking recently. And when he left it was like parting with an old friend. They
had such similar views on so many things.
