Everything You Need To Know About Joshua Ledet’s ‘American Idol’ Concert At Burton Coliseum

Being a part of ‘American Idol’s’ Top 3 has its privileges — namely, you get to come home and see your family and friends. When it comes to Josh, that group is getting larger by the minute! While Josh will be in our studios Saturday morning at 9 a.m. and on the streets of Westlake for a parade at noon, he’ll blow the doors off the Burton Coliseum at 6 p.m. during his “pep rally” performance. Here’s what you need to know:

1. The event’s free, but tickets might be hard to come by.

Tickets became available for the event 8 p.m. Thursday night, and even though there were 7,900 available, it’s hard to say how you’ll come by them if you didn’t wait in line Thursday night. The only thing you have going for you is that each person was allowed only two tickets apiece. So, there may still be hope. …And we may have more details on that later…

2. Doors will open at 4 p.m., Josh will take the stage after 6 p.m.

And since seats are general admission, they will be first-come, first-served. Getting there early isn’t a bad idea.

3. There will be two opening acts — both of which are related to Josh.

Before Josh takes the stage, there will be a little Louisiana flavor on the floor. Zydeco artists Terrance Simien and the Zydeco Experience and Brandon Ledet will be his openers. They also happen to be cousins of Josh.

4. It’s the first time an ‘American Idol’ contestant has performed their homecoming concert indoors.

Leave it to Louisiana to make history. The combination of Saturday’s bad weather forecast and the unavailability of the Civic Center grounds due to Contraband Days means that options were few for the concert venue. As it turns out, Joshua Ledet will be the first such contestant to have an arena concert. How cool is that?

5. The parking lot will open at 10 a.m. on the morning of the concert.

If you want to be able to park at Burton Coliseum, you need to go claim your spot early. Once the Coliseum’s parking lot is full, all other attendees will have to park at McNeese and board buses to get back and forth to the event.

6. Security will be very heavy.

Calcasieu Parish officials said as many as 40-60 officers from various law enforcement agencies around Southwest Louisiana will be on hand to keep the peace. A great deal of the planning of Josh’s Saturday events has had to include security.
