In an ongoing effort to educate parents, grandparents and caregivers on the importance of child seat safety, the Louisiana State Police Troop D will be holding a child safety seat day this Saturday September 15th.

The State Police has teamed up with the Knights of Columbus in Moss Bluff and Ward One Fire Department to hold a child safety seat check.

This is not to hand out tickets but instead educate you on the proper restraints for your child while they travel in ca vehicle.

They will also be giving away free child booster seats while supplies last. Trooper Derek Senegal said the following criteria must be met to receive a seat.

  • Child and vehicle must be present

  • Child must weigh from 40 to 100 pounds

  • Child must be less than 4 feet 9 inches tall

  • Child must be at least 4 years old

  • Only one seat per child

Another cool thing they will be doing this weekend is the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office will provide fingerprint ID kits and the Ward One Fire Department will have one of their fire trucks out there for kids to check out.

The event is this Saturday, September 15th, 2018 at the Knights of Columbus building located at 356 East Telephone Road in Moss Bluff from 10am to 1pm.
