Garth Brooks has added five additional concerts in Des Moines in response to overwhelming ticket demand.

The country mega-star first announced a single date at Wells Fargo Arena in Des Moines on April 30 as part of his ongoing Garth Brooks World Tour, which also features his wife, Trisha Yearwood. The date marked his first time playing in the market in 23 years, and when tickets went on sale Friday (March 11), he sold over 70,000 tickets in the first hour, forcing him to add five more shows to accommodate his eager fans.

Brooks and Yearwood will now perform a total of six shows in Des Moines, with two new shows added for April 29, a late show added for April 30, and new shows also scheduled for May 1 and May 3. According to a press release, these will be the only Iowa dates of the entire tour.

Tickets are still on sale via IowaEventsCenter.com/Garth or by calling 1-844-4-GarthB (1-844-442-7842). All seats cost $74.98, and there is an eight-ticket limit per purchase.

The tour has been a massive success, selling out multiple nights in many markets, including Louisville, Ottawa and Las Vegas.  Pollstar named Brooks the top touring country artist for the first half of 2015, and he also topped Forbes' year-end list of the highest-earning stars in country music in 2015, with total earnings of $90 million.

Brooks plans to wrap the tour in Nashville, but so far no official date has been scheduled.
