Garth Brooks, Trisha Yearwood Honor the Legends With CMA Awards Medley
As promised, the super-couple ripped through songs like "Jackson" (Johnny and June Carter Cash) and "Golden Ring" (Tammy Wynette and George Jones). But they also paid tribute to legends like Lynn Anderson with "Rose Garden" and Roger Miller with "Chug-a-lug."
Conway Twitty and Loretta Lynn's "Louisiana Woman, Mississippi Man" was also a part of the medley, with Lynn begin amongst the only honored singer in the audience. Most of the others died long ago, including Keith Whitley.
Brooks and Yearwood were the perfect choice for this multi-artist tribute as each is well-versed in the classics. Each mini-song felt honest and pure. They've had many of their own duets, including a few recently. In September Brooks announced he and Yearwood would include a song called "Whiskey To Wine" on his upcoming Gunslinger album. They also have a Christmas album coming on Nov. 11. Christmas Together features several duets.
