Gator 100 Go Kart Race Coming to Lake Charles Civic Center October 11, Raising Money for Local Veterans [VIDEO]
Ever walked around the Lake Charles Civic Center and wondered what it would be like to drive a go-kart around it? Well, that's a pretty specific little dream you have there, but lucky for you, that's exactly what some local drivers will be doing on Oct. 11!
The inaugural Gator 100 Go-Kart Race will consist of a special track laid out around the Civic Center. Designed like a mini "Le Mans" course, each team will even feature its own pit crew. Local businesses can get their own kart and participate in the race, with proceeds going a local veterans' charity.
"I never served in the military, so whenever I can, I serve the military," said organizer Thom Hager.
The 6.5-horsepower karts top out at 35 mph and are fully customizable.
Admission will be $10 for adults, with kids 12 and under, seniors and veterans all getting in for half price. Children ages 3 and under get in for free.
