Country music Hall of Famer and one of the most iconic names in country music Waylon Jennings would have turned 80 today.

Waylon Jennings was born in Littlefield, Texas in 1937 and started his country career in 1958. Waylon is often associated with country legends like Willie Nelson, Johnny Cash and Merle Haggard just to name a few.

Sadly of the four, Willie Nelson is the only one left with the passing of Merle Haggard last year.

Waylon is known for iconic songs like "Good Hearted Woman", "Are You Sure Hank Done It This Way", "Luckenbach Texas", "Good Ole Boys" and so many more.  In fact he had 16 number one hits during his career.

Waylon Jennings was inducted in the Country Music Hall of Fame in 2001 one year before his death in 2002.  Waylon had a massive $1500 a day cocaine habit and when he decided to kick the habit he started smoking about 6 packs a day.

In February of 2002, Waylon passed away in his sleep of diabetic complications.

Happy Birthday Waylon!  We celebrate you every Saturday night with our Classic Country Saturday night show!
