Yesterday at 6:30 a.m., there was a two-vehicle crash on Highway 397 near the community of LeBleu Settlement according to Louisiana State Police Troop D.

28-year-old Cortny Paul Vidalier of Rayne collided her 2004 Chevrolet pickup truck head-on with a southbound Hyundai Genesis driven by 30-year-old Erin Michel Atlow of Lake Charles.

After the collision, both vehicles were spun around and traveled into ditches along each side of the highway. The pickup truck caught fire and both drivers were pronounced dead at the scene by the Calcasieu Parish Coroner’s Office.

There were no other occupants in the vehicles.

Troop D has investigated 25 fatal crashes resulting in 27 fatalities this year.
