Keith Urban Plots Free Shows to Promote ‘Ripcord’
Urban's first stop will be on Wednesday (May 4) in New York City at Stage 48; he'll premiere all-new music from Ripcord, two days before the record's official release, and play some of his biggest hits. Fans who can't make it to the Big Apple for the event will be able to stream the show beginning at 8PM ET on TIDAL.
Then, on May 9, Urban will head to Music City for a free outdoor show in Bridgestone Plaza. The concert, which is being held in partnership with the City of Nashville, will feature Urban's new tunes, and fans will be able to grab lunch during the afternoon show from a number of food truck vendors who will be ready to feed the hungry masses.
"Keith is an asset to this city on every level,” says Butch Spyridon of the Nashville Convention & Visitors Corp. “His talent as a singer, songwriter and musician is unquestionable, and as a citizen, he is a model for others to follow. He has given back time and time again, and it is truly appreciated."
Urban's final free stop will be in L.A. on May 10 at the Grammy Museum's 200-seat Clive Davis Theater, for an event dubbed Inside the Songs of Ripcord. Scott Goldman, vice president of the Grammy Foundation and MusiCares, will moderate the event, during which Urban will give intimate performances and share the stories behind the writing, producing and recording of Ripcord.
Fans can find out how to be a part of these Ripcord release events via Urban's official website.
Ripcord is set for release on Friday (May 6) and includes the No. 1 singles "John Cougar, John Deere, John 3:16" and "Break on Me," as well as Urban's current single, "Wasted Time." On June 2, the country star will begin his Ripcord World Tour in Kansas City, Mo.
