And then there was two.  The last two teams from Southwest Louisiana that are still alive in the high school playoffs.  The Kinder Yellow Jackets and the Welsh Greyhounds have both made it to the semi-final round of the 2A playoffs.

Both teams are just one win away to punching their ticket to New Orleans and play for a 2-A state football championship. For Kinder this would be their third straight year in a row that the yellow jackets have made the trip to New Orleans.

Two years ago, Kinder beat Many to win the 2-A championship and as fate would have it, Kinder and Many both made it back to the championship game where Kinder lost.  There will not be a third year rematch if Kinder wins because Many lost in the second round of the playoffs this year.

What is even crazier is that Kinder and Welsh are in the same district.  Both teams play in the 4-2A Louisiana district so they are very familiar with each other.  In the regular season, Kinder beat Welsh 27-14  in Kinder to snap Welsh's 9 game winning streak and crush the greyhounds dream of an undefeated season.

This Friday night it will be the same scenario.  Welsh will travel to Kinder to face off. Winner heads to the Mercedes Benz Superdome to play for the 2-A state championship, loser goes home.
