The Lake Charles Police Department continuously strives to attract qualified applicants to protect and serve the city. This Saturday, anyone wishing to become a member of the force can apply in person during a recruiting event in the Jean Lafitte Room of the Lake Charles Civic Center.

Attendees must report by 8AM. According to the city's website, applicants must possess the following basic qualifications:

Be a Citizen of the United States
Be at least 21 years of age
A High School Diploma or GED
 A valid Louisiana Drivers License
Pass a written Civil Service Examination
Pass a Physical Agility Test
If you wish to apply Saturday, you should bring this documentation with you. Should you be chosen to advance in the application process, there is another layer of requirements:
Pass a background investigation including character and previous job history
Pass an Oral Board interview
Pass a Polygraph Examination
Pass a Psychological Examination
Pass a physical examination, including a drug screen
Conditional offer of employment upon successful completion of all phases
