Sarah Medwick, local LeBlanc Middle Schooler, won first place in the black and white photography competition at the Louisiana State Beta Convention in May.  Sarah has always been active in the arts scene in SWLA, her mother Elizabeth volunteers with the Jazz In The Arts, a local non-profit organization promoting music education and culture in our schools and community; Sarah loves to tag along and help out wherever she is needed.

When the winning picture was taken, Sarah didn't know what might inspire her.  She visited New Orleans with her mom and among all the artists on the streets of New Orleans, a lone trumpet player "spoke" to her.  See below the winning photo Sarah took.

Sarah is traveling to Nashville this week to participate in the National Beta Competition.  She is very excited to meet new friends, participate as a photographer, and share her love of the Arts in SWLA.  Congrats, Sarah!  Let us know how it goes.  We are all rooting for you!
