Keeping our street and highways safe to travel on is the first priority for all of our local law enforcement agencies.  So with that being said, the Louisiana State Police will conduct a DWI and seat belt checkpoint this Friday night November 13th somewhere in the parish.

Sgt. James Anderson with the Louisiana State police said:

In an effort to increase seat belt usage and combat impaired driving in our area, Louisiana State Police Troop D plans to conduct a seat belt compliance and DWI checkpoint on Friday, November 13, 2015, from approximately 9:00 p.m. to 3:00 a.m. at an undisclosed location in Calcasieu Parish.

Our mission will be to ticket vehicle occupants who are not properly restrained or who choose not to properly restrain children in the vehicle as well as to remove impaired drivers from the highway before they cause injury or death to themselves or others.

If you were to see a imparied driver or a child jumping around in a car, you can always report it to the Louisiana State Police by dialing *LSP on your cell phone or by calling 337-491-2511.

Be careful out there and designate a driver this weekend and always!
