Was it me or was the game yesterday between the LSU Tigers baseball team and the TCU horned frogs a hard one to watch?  I know Tiger fans were just screaming at the TV or just turning away not being able to watch!

It all started in my opinion after starting pitcher Jared Poche' threw two consecutive easy throw outs at first over the head of the first baseman putting runners on the bags and giving TCU the confidence they needed.  After Poche had real command of his pitches for the first three innings but after the two straight errors he committed in the fourth inning, he was never the same. After the two base runners came aboard, they scored off of two singles by TCU.

In the fifth inning, the wheels just came off for Poche'.  He loaded the bases with two walks and then gave up a single. With the infield in, Poche' gave up a hard grounder at third base and TCU's third run scored.

Then Jared Poche' hit the next batter with the bases loaded scoring another run for TCU  and was finally pulled from the game by head coach Paul Mainieri after surrendering a two-run single which gave TCU a 6-1 lead over the Tigers.

LSU couldn't really get the bats going after that.  It was like the wind had been knocked out of them.  One of the only positives in the game was Lake Charles own and former Barbe Buc player Jared Foster bombed one out of the park to left field for a solo home run.  The Tigers lost 10-3 in the opening round of the college world series.

The Tigers now will have to claw their way back into this year's college world series.  With the loss they are 0-1 in the tournament and find themselves in the losers bracket.  They will play an elimination game Tuesday at 2:00 p.m. on ESPN2. against the loser of Vanderbilt and Cal State Fullerton game.

The game between Vanderbilt and Cal State Fullerton game was suspended last night due to severe weather Cal-State winning the game 3-0 in the bottom of the sixth inning. Tiger fans will have to watch and see who loses this game today so they will know who LSU will face tomorrow.  The game is set to resume at 11 a.m. today on ESPN2.
