LSU's live tiger mascot, Mike VI, has been diagnosed with a spindle cell sarcoma, a type of cancer. The 10-year-old Bengal-Siberian mix is the sixth tiger to serve as LSU's mascot. He was given a estimated life expectancy of one-to-two years with treatment, the university announced.

It doesn't matter who your favorite team is, this is truly terrible news. I'm sure the impact will be felt amongst the team, school, and fan base. I'm sad to hear that this form of cancer isn't curable and that efforts will be restricted to extending and enhancing his life rather than eradication of the cancer.

My condolences to the LSU fans and friends affected by this...
