Luke Bryan Gets in Altercation With Fan Over ‘Crude Hand Gestures’ [WATCH]
Video has surfaced of Luke Bryan getting into an altercation with an audience member during his set at Charlie Daniels' 2016 Volunteer Jam on Wednesday night (Nov. 30). A representative for the singer says that the incident began following "crude hand gestures" and "insulting" actions.
While onstage at Nashville's Bridgestone Arena for the Volunteer Jam, Bryan was ending his four-song set with his single "Move" when he saw someone in the crowd "making crude hand gestures ... during his performance," a rep tells Taste of Country. As readers can see in the video above, the artist stopped at the edge of the stage, then jumped down closer to the fan and, very quickly, smacked the left side of his face; as Bryan returns to the stage, a crew member can be seen jumping into the crowd and telling the fan to leave.
"[The gestures were] insulting not only to [Bryan], but more importantly to the men, women and families sitting around him who were there to support and celebrate Charlie Daniels and the efforts of raising money for the military veterans — some of who were in the audience," Bryan's representative says. "The concert security personnel saw the man’s disruptive actions of the event, and he was escorted out.”
The 2016 Volunteer Jam raised $245,000 for the Journey Home Project, a non-profit organization co-founded by Daniels and his manager, David Corlew, that helps veterans transition after returning home from tours abroad. Later in the evening, Bryan joined Daniels onstage for "The Devil Went Down to Georgia."
“Certainly, to be a part of [this event] and be onstage with an icon — anything that he’s a part of, I’m just honored to be a part of,” Bryan told The Boot and other media backstage at the Volunteer Jam, “and I’m so blessed to have gotten to work with Charlie in the past on stuff.”
Bryan recently announced that he is extending his Kill the Lights Tour into 2017, with new dates beginning in January.
