On this day in Country Music History, Roy Rogers  made his debut on the big screen as a leading actor with the release of "Under Western Stars" in 1938.

Rogers also debuted the first Martin OM-45 Deluxe (which later became an extremely rare and collectible guitar) in the film. With Smiley burnette and his faithful horse, Trigger, Rogers played the part of a Congressman from a drought-ridden state.

So, where do singing cowboys come from?
