The owners and developers of the Margaritaville Hotel and Casino franchise are hoping that third time is the charm. Twice the company has tried to build and support a casino hotel on the Mississippi Gulf Coast. Twice those attempts have failed.

Now comes reports that a new family destination is being planned by the company. The hotel, waterpark, family entertainment complex will feature 337 guest rooms and 83 suites. Oddly enough the property will not feature a casino. It will feature a zip line, a lazy river, and two water slides. Plus there will also be many other family activities planned for the traveler who likes to bring the kids along.

In their earlier attempts to establish a resort based on the music and musings of Jimmy Buffett the company has failed miserably. The first attempt a $700 million casino project was scrapped before it could be completed. Hurricane Katrina had something to do with that.  A second smaller Margaritaville Casino was built in Biloxi but it closed due to bankruptcy in 2014.

The new resort will be built on the sight of the former Casino Magic location. The resort is currently accepting reservations for June 30th and beyond. With the MS Gulf Coast within driving distance for most Louisiana residents this will certainly open up options for those planning vacations with the family this summer.
