American Press Journalist Emily Fontenot  reported that the city's annual five-year capital improvement plan has been approved by the Lake Charles planning commission on Monday.  This plan was compiled under the previous administration, and although new Mayor Nic Hunter says the plan is good, he wants more money allocated to drainage:

“I cannot state vehemently enough: Drainage in Calcasieu Parish is at a crisis level,” Hunter said. “I believe it is our number one infrastructure priority, and with City Council support, the budget of Lake Charles will reflect this as a priority.” - Mayor Nic Hunter
