Lake Charles, La. - The public is invited to the 2017 Mayor's Arts Awards ceremony Thursday, November 2, at 6 p.m. in the Benjamin W. Mount Auditorium at Central School, and it's all brought to you by the Arts Council of SWLA.

Mayor Nic Hunter of Lake Charles will be on hand to award creative workers, patrons, and artists by recognizing their contributions to the culture of Southwest Louisiana.

Award categories include Artist of the Year, Citizen of the Arts, Citizen of the Humanities, Arts Educator of the Year, Cultural Organization of the Year, and Patron of the Year will be. The Keystone award is also given to an individual who works diligently behind the scenes, without whom programs and performances would not be possible.

An independent panel will choose the award winners, and they're kept secret until the actual ceremony. Anyone who plans on attending should dress business casual.
