A few weeks after being ranked #13 by the Coaches in the Southland Conference, the Sports Network had released their poll.

McNeese State's Cowboys have been given a pre-season national ranking of No. 20 by the Sports Network.

The Cowboys, who were 6-5 last year and not ranked in the final Sports Network poll, were one of three Southland Conference teams listed in the poll.

Defending SLC champion Stephen F. Austin led the way with a 17th place while Central Arkansas was in 18th place. Sam Houston State and Northwestern State received votes.

Defending national champion Eastern Washington was the No. 1 pick followed by Appalachian State, William & Mary, Georgia Southern and Delaware. Rounding out the top 10 were Montana State, Northern Iowa, Wofford, Jacksonville State and New Hampshire.

A couple of weeks ago the Cowboys were picked to win the SLC title by league coaches.

The first regular season poll by the Sports Network will be following the September 3 season opening weekend.
