Yesterday was the annual Southland Conference Media day.  Media day is where all the Southland Conference Football coaches, two football players from each team,   Athletic directors, and media all gather together for the 2016 football season.

Last year was a great season for the McNeese Cowboys who were undefeated in the 2015 regular season at 10-0.  The pokes won the Southland Conference but lost their playoff game to league rival Sam Houston to end their season.

Yesterday, the pokes were picked to finish second in the upcoming season by the Southland Conference coaches.  Sam Houston, the team that bounced McNeese out of the playoffs last season, were picked to finish first in the conference.

Sam Houston  received 99 points and nine first place votes in the coaches poll while your McNeese Cowboys received 92 total points and two first place votes.

The Cowboys kick off the regular season on Saturday, September 3rd here in Lake Charles when they take on Tarleton State.  The game kicks off at 6:00 p.m. at Cowboy stadium.
