It was a successful beginning to the 2015 season for the McNeese Cowboys Saturday night as they defeated the Incarnate Word Cardinals 43-6 in front of 13,000 fans on a perfect evening for football at Cowboy Stadium.

It was a slow beginning for the Pokes as they lead 9-0 at the half. But the second half was all Cowboys as they outscored UIW 34-6. The Cowboys defense held the Cardinals without a first down in the third quarter while the offense built a 29-0 lead.
The Cowboys got touchdowns from Derrick Milton, Austin Nelson, and Daniel Sams, who also throw a TD pass. Grant Ashcraft and David Hamm wrapped up the scoring with a touchdown each in the 4th quarter. Trent Manuel added 2 field goals and 5 PAT's. Even the Cowboys defense scored on a safety in the 2nd quarter.
With the win, the Cowboys are 1-0 in the Southland Conference and will travel to Nacadogches, Tx. Next Saturday evening to face the Stephen F. Austin Lumberjacks. Airtime will be 5 p.m./ with kickoff at 6 p.m. on your new home for the Cowboys, 92.9 The Lake, and 929thelake.com.
