I met Steve Wariner in October of 2013, he was the featured act at the American Cancer Society's Cattle Baron's Ball in Beaumont, Texas; a cancer-fighting fundraiser.  My father was one of the Honoraree Emcee's for the Ball, so my family were VIP ticket holders.  We enjoyed food, fun, drinks, and of course meeting Steve Wariner.

I was still undergoing chemotherapy for Non-Hodgkin's Lymphoma, hence the short hair, and Steve shared some personal news with me during our conversation.  Steve shared a close family friend had been diagnosed with breast cancer that July, and it was hitting too close to home.  Him and I discussed my cancer journey, and how a faith and hope is the main focus when facing a life-changing journey.  We chatted for a while, talking and laughing about life in general.  He stated he was very excited to be a part of the Cattle Baron's Ball, how important it was of him to be on the front lines of fighting cancer.

It was then time for him to head on-stage to perform, but he insisted we take the picture you see above, Me, Steve, and my husband.  He then gave me a huge hug, told me to keep the faith, and headed on stage to perform.  If he reads this, "THANK YOU, Steve", thank you for being gracious and kind during one of the most difficult fights of my life.
