As Zac Brown Band launched day two of the Southern Ground Music & Food Festival at Charleston’s Blackbaud Stadium, guest performer Natalie Maines awoke Sunday morning to some mean tweets from a few South Carolina fans.

After her set on Saturday, Natalie tweeted, “I revisited South Carolina tonight. [In] 2003 they had a bill on the floor demanding the [Dixie Chicks] officially apologize and play free concerts #[expletive]that.” Follower @humorfix then asked, “What did you think this time around?” She replied, “Time has stood still.”

Apparently Natalie’s set didn’t get a warm reception from a few fans at festival. Twitter user @iamtaylorrrr observed, “She did get booed, but then there were those who were singing along. You just have some idiots sometimes!”

At the time in 2003, protesters were picketing the Chicks’ show in Greeneville, which was their first gig back stateside after Natalie had famously bashed former president George W. Bush in London over the war in Iraq.

A few fans in SC are not ready to make nice with @NatalieMaines1 following her set @zacbrownband’s @SGFestCHS: bit.ly/1c73kCl - Tweet
