Want to fight cancer at home?  This Friday, The American Cancer Society's Relay For Life Lake Charles is being held at the Lake Charles Civic Center., from 6PM-Midnight.  Relay For Life is a largest cancer fighting fundraiser in the world.  Communities around the globe raise money for cancer research, support programs, and advocacy for cancer patients, survivors, and families and Lake Charles has the honor of hosting this event for our local cancer programs.

I am a cancer survivor (see above with my husband and nephew walking the Survivor Lap at last year's Relay) and the efforts of Relay For Life teams does not go unnoticed.  You see, one of my cancer-fighting chemotherapy medications was directly funded through Relay For Life efforts in the late-80's; medicine that saved my life.  Valuable medical research is funded through the annual Relay For Life fundraisers, allowing almost 20 million survivors in the U.S. to live full, and happy lives POST cancer.  We are finally winning the fight against cancer.

This Friday, pack the strollers and bring the whole family downtown, to the Lake Charles Civic Center to fight cancer.  The Survivor and Caregiver walk is at 7pm, during opening ceremonies.  Festivities begin at 8pm, with the Mr. Relay contest.  Enjoy live music with Brad Brinkley, Mike Richard, Edward Theriot and Bryce Esthay; later that night a pizza eating contest, hula hoop contest, along with games and activities for the whole family.  It truly takes a village to raise a survivor.  Come help us #CastAwayCancer at Relay For Life Lake Charles.  #HOPE
