Residents Affected By Flood Urged To Pre-Register With FEMA – Here’s How
As of late Monday afternoon a federal disaster declaration for parishes in south and southwest Louisiana affected by the past weekend's historic rainfall had not been issued. Governor John Bel Edwards toured portions of the area yesterday and encouraged residents affect by the flood to let the Federal Emergency Management Agency know just how badly the area was hit by the high water.
Here are the steps you will need to take in order to pre-register with FEMA so if and when a federal disaster declaration is made you will have your information in order to begin the process of receiving the assistance that you might need to repair your home or replace damaged items.
The FEMA online site is a great place to start if you have access to the internet. You may also call 1-800-621-FEMA (3362). The more information that you can provide on the FEMA site or by calling the FEMA helpline the better the chances of federal aid being issued for all of the parishes that were affected and continue to be affected by the rising water.
