We looked up and it was May! Before you know it, the buses will be running for the very last time this school year. It seems like just last week we here on the Townsquare Media team were putting together all the things you needed to know about heading back for a brand new session.

Not all students in Southwest Louisiana will have the same final day of school for the 2016-17 year, just as not all of them started at the same time.

Once your students hear that bell for the last time, they will be so excited! Then, about 2 days after that, they will be crying because they are bored. We have lots of information on summer camps to keep them occupied and having a great time all summer long.

The Calcasieu Parish Public Library kicks off their Summer Reading Program at the pavilion at Prien Lake Park on Friday, March 26, with a big shindig. The program is a great way to keep them reading in a fun, challenging way. It also helps them to keep up with any AR points they want or need for the next school year!

Speaking of next school year, if you'd like to plan ahead, the school systems around the state have already released their calendars for the 2017-18 year. You can find links to each district below.
