So we had “Bounty Gate”, our coach and captain of our defense was suspended for a year and we all held our breath till Drew Brees signed his contract.  That was just in the first part of this year.  With all that said, we now look forward to the 2012 season and hope that the Saints prove all the naysayers wrong.

First step, maybe have the owner of the New Orleans Saints have a heart to heart talk with the commissioner of the NFL, Roger Goodell and that is exactly what happened today.

New Orleans Saints owner Tom Benson spent Tuesday morning discussing his team’s embattled offseason with NFL commissioner Roger Goodell in a meeting, according to league sources.

Benson wanted to address the manner in which his team has been treated for its role in an alleged bounty program, at a time when a Louisiana judge is waiting to rule on linebacker Jonathan Vilma‘s lawsuit against the league, the sources said.

What came out of the meeting is uncertain, but it now has wrapped up, one source confirmed.NFL spokesman Greg Aiello declined to confirm the commissioner’s meeting with Benson and added that Goodell meets and talks with owners all the time on a wide range of issues.

To be a fly on the wall at that meeting!  Was Benson there to try and get a lesser penalty for his coach and players or was he there to give Goodell a good old fashion Cajun tongue lashing!  You know us Cajun’s can’t hold inside what we want to say!

Either way, we will have to see if this meeting accomplished anything or will everything still remain the same.
