As football season slowly begins to creep its way back into our lives, the talk of the upcoming season begins to heat up more and more each day. This past week, watch lists for some of the most prestigious awards and college football were released and there were many LSU Tigers that made those lists.

The Maxwell Award is given to the best player in the country as chosen by coaches, sportswriters, and sportscasters. LSU sophomore running back and Heisman Trophy hopeful Leonard Fournette made that watch list. He is coming off a 1,000 yard rushing season as a true freshman and will be the work horse for the Tigers this season.

The next award watch list that came out was the Bednarik Award. This award is given to the top defensive player in the country. LSU junior linebacker Kendall Beckwith and senior safety Jalen Mills were both named to the watch list for the Bednarik Award. Both men also made the preseason watch list for the Bronko Nagurski Award which is also given to the defensive player of the year as chosen by the FWAA All-America Committee.

LSU junior center Ethan Pocic was named to the Rimington Award watch list. This award is given to the nations top center. Another offensive lineman that made a preseason award watch list was senior guard Vadal Alexander, who was named to the Outland Trophy watch list. The Outland Trophy is given to the nations top offensive lineman.

There is also the Ray Guy award which is awarded to the nations top punter. LSU senior punter Jamie Kheen has made that preseason watch list.

There will be more award watch lists that will be released this coming week such as the Doak Walker Award, Fred Biletnikoff Award, Jim Thorpe Award, and more. Expect to see some of these names to appear on more lists and maybe some other Tigers that could see their names on these lists as well.
