Tonight the Louisiana State Police (LSP) will be conducting a DWI checkpoint in an undisclosed location in Calcasieu Parish.

According to Sgt. James Anderson with the LSP said,

Our mission is to detect and arrest impaired drivers before they cause injury or death to themselves or others.

Alcohol consumption affects driver judgement and the skills needed to drive safely.  Motorists are encouraged to plan ahead and designate a sober driver before driving to any place where alcohol will be consumed.  Not doing so can have deadly consequences.

The checkpoint tonight, May 31st, 2018 will take place from the hours of 8:00 p.m. until 2:00 a.m. somewhere in Calcasieu Parish.

So if you are planning on going out tonight for drinks then plan on having a designated driver or another way to get home safely.

If you see a drunk driver on the road you can always call and report it by calling 511 on your cell phone, calling the State police at 337-491-1311 or of course calling 911.

Be careful out there Southwest Louisiana!
