Deana Carter who rose to fame in country music with her song "Strawberry Wine" turns 50 years old today.  It was inevitable that Deana would be a country music singer because she was born in music city on this day in 1966.

The Nashville Tennessee native in 1996 released her debut album Did I Shave My Legs for This?  The record was huge for Deana Carter.  It went Multi-Platinum in the US and sold over five million copies.

The CD also spawned her first number one hit "Strawberry Wine" which today is still one of the most popular songs she has ever released.  It also has covered more than one generation.

My daughter is 20 years old and when this song comes on the radio she starts singing it even though it was released when she was one.

Carter has three number one songs to her credit.  "We Danced Anyway", "How Do I Get There" and "Strawberry Wine".

Her is the icon song "Strawberry Wine"

Happy Birthday Deana.  The big "5-0".
