Cable television loves shows that pit the hunter vs. the hunted, and a crunching of last week’s Nielsen ratings reveals that a new king of the genre can be crowned. “Swamp People” on History, which follows Cajun alligator hunters who fight for their lives and their livelihood in the Louisiana swamp, pulled in 5.5 million total viewers for its Season 2 finale last week, overtaking “The Deadliest Catch” on Discovery, which had 3 million total viewers. It was the most-viewed cable show last Thursday in total viewers. Among all Thursday programming, including the broadcast networks, “Swamp People” was only bested by “Big Brother” in the 18- to 49-year-old demographic and finished the season up 32 percent over the viewership totals from Season 1. It also cracked the top 10 in the weekly cable chart at No. 6. Overall, History dominated the top of the chart with “Pawn Stars” (at No. 1 and No. 3, with just under 6.7 million and 6.4 million viewers, respectively) and “American Pickers” (at No. 5 with 5.6 million viewers).

Which one of the Swamp People is your favorite ????
